Summer Side-By-Side

This summer we will be beginning a new series on Escapement SV called Summer Side-by-Side.  This is a side by side review of two watches that I was called to consider when looking to purchase a new watch.

Instead of purchasing only one, I decided to get both and do an extended review of them in order to help others who are interested in purchasing either of these watches in the future (not to mention I needed a convincing reason to tell my girlfriend why I am purchasing two watches at one time… ).  Summer Side-By-Side is designed to provide constructive and useful analysis and reviews of these two watches under a longer-term review setting.

So, for the course of the summer I will wear each watch through my daily life and activities: taking them hiking, running, rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, swimming, off-roading, and exploring cities in order to get a better understanding of what it is like to live with each watch.  I want to know if I can tell the time easily when they are wet or dirty, what it is like to live with each watch and what it feels like to have them on my wrist.

Basically, this will be the type of review that I wish that I was able to find for each of these watches, and I hope that it will allow you to come to a much better understanding of what it is like to live with each of these watches so you can make an informed purchase.

I will document my expeditions with the watches and report any helpful and great things I find as well as any issues. It should be a really fun and exciting trip and I look forward to being able to share what I learned at the end of the summer!

Stay tuned for my announcement on the two watches I will be reviewing shortly (Hint: one might be a Grand Seiko)!
